WPTW 1570 Piqua Ohio Is for Sale,The owner states if he Can't sell The station is going Off the Air. It is 221 Air Miles from WHTX. Could this be A Chance for WHTX to Incress Day and Night Power ?
 
Negative on both counts. WPTW and WHTX are both "class D" stations with no protected night service. 1570 is a Mexican/Canadian clear channel, and WPTW going away (which it won't) wouldn't help WHTX at night. It also wouldn't help during the day; there are other stations in between (1560 Coshocton, 1580 Columbus, etc.) that restrict WHTX's power long before WPTW enters the picture.

Plus a long-since silenced daytimer at 1560 in Chardon, the former WATJ (nee WBKC). Note that WHTX's pattern is still slightly pinched to the northeast to allow for said station.

According to Radio-Locator, WPTW is a Class B station since it has at least 250 watts at night, non-directional by the way. I once worked for WILO in Indiana also on 1570 about 80 or 90 miles West of WPTW. WILO also has 250 watts, non-directional day/night and is listed as a Class B. I know in places around Muncie, IN WPTW and WILO mix-it-up a bit during the daylight hours...

Is Radio-Locator wrong about these being "Class Bs" ?
 
That's what I get for an off-the-top-of-my-head Sunday afternoon reply! Indeed, WPTW upgraded from a class D daytimer to a 250-watt fulltime B in 1993, and somehow I completely missed it.

Chris, is that potential 1000-watt upgrade daytime, nighttime or both?
