OH kay. What the hell is wrong with the music on Chicago's 2 Urban stations?? Ever since Kriss came to WGCI from Detroit, she turned WGCI into a WJLB playing 40% Old school and 60% New school. WPWX has once again, become a wanna-be WGCI clone and just as WGCI started becoming "throwback" heavy in 2008, WPWX soon followed doing the SAME EXACT THING!
WHY can't WPWX for once think out of the box?? They have low ratings because they are not doing things ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE COMPETITION! Its time for MAJOR changes at WPWX now that WGCI has a new local morning show once again.

The old-school is out of control on regular rotation! There is PLENTY OF NEW MUSIC EACH WEEK THAT WPWX IS NOT PUTTING ON ROTATION. The MD needs to get HIP to the TIMES or maybe bring someone in that is YOUNGER that knows whats the deal~

This is real bad! WPWX doesnt even act like they have music service and don't know what's HOT TODAY! A former station that I used to program was the most listened to over the internet because I KEPT IT FRESH! TMCentury Hit Disc was great, as long as just doing simple research, and being in tune with the streets can tell you what is TODAY"S REAL HOTTEST MUSIC!
Plenty of times, during regular rotation, or even mixshows, WPWX is playing some old school, p-funk, or house. And then flip on 106.3 and they are doing the same thing? WHY!!!!!!!!! Leave WPWX CURRENT! The DIZ has been doing a great job bringing "102 The Groove/WBMX back to the airwaves on WSRB. BUT WE DO NOT NEED WSRB AND WPWX doing essentially the same thing time to time!
What the WPWX MD needs to do is stick exclusively to the Uban Charts... and just look at the example of what the listeners request on the "all request hour" last nite after 10PM. Drop the old school aka "throwbacks". PUT IT ON WPWX HD2. Drop the HOUSE and the PFUNK and all the corny music ... keep it on WSRB and STAY CURRENT PERIOD!
Bad enough that there is constant old school in the regular rotation, now its also 12-4 each Sunday afternoon? WHAT THE?!?!??! Seems like they want to make 92.3 Urban AC so whats the point of even TRYING to be a mainstream Urban any longer. Get it over with. Compete with V103, capture Tom Joyner along side Michael Baisden afternoons, and put the rap back on 106.3 because obvious thats what programmers sadly seem to want.

Houston radio rotates local & upcoming artists. Atlanta plays local artist. Detroit represents their hometown. Jackson MS plays ALOT of local artists on the heritage WJMI. WHY CANT CHICAGO EVER HAVE A TRUE REPRESENTATION OF THEIR OWN?? And not just for ONE STUPID HOUR A WEEK. This is the reason why folks leave Chicago to make it big. We have overall no support. Seems like one song from a Chicago artist makes it into rotation.

Three-ish years ago, it was so FRESH! Trey and Kendra... it was great! Such a shame they split. It hasn't been the same for months. The chemistry just hasnt been there. Plenty of times it seems like Tre makes comments and is waitng for some support from his co-host and its more dead air than anything.
DROP THE 8AM Im lovin' it mix. OK its sponsored by McDonald's. Easy money, i get it. But overall the morning show needs to be much more listener-interactive. KissFM is a great morning show, they INSTANTLY start taking calls at 5am and get right down to business on the topic of the day.
A replay of the day before's interviews or topic? Whats the point? Yesterday was yesterday. Start a new day, start a new topic! Get the interaction going immediately. There is only so much you can squeeze in between songs, traffic, weather, sports, stopsets. A 7am topic is not enough time to discuss anything within one hour. Establish the topic of the day at 5am and keep it running til 9 and THEN go into a 9AM mix! But is a mix even really necessary in the AM?? If anything, at least drop the 8AM MIX WHEN THE DISCUSSIONS SHOULD BE CONTINUING.
TRAFFIC REPORTS:
Speak traffic reports faster, take some lessons from WBBM-AM and you dont have to say "MINUTES" after each travel time or "gonna cost ya." Or just even do traffic "hot spots" and dont even give travel times sometimes. He could save seconds of broacast time or more if he cut out "minutes" and spoke faster.

IMAGING
8 years! Eric Edwards is the most horrible voice to be on a Urban Mainstream radio station. Not only is his voice sound so much like a old white dude (duh), he speaks so SLOWLY and pronounces each syllable like it is supposed to be spoken, that each sweeper/liner/promo takes 1/3rd longer to be aired over the airwaves compared to Dr Dave, Rick Party, or even Pat Garrett! Their production is much tighter, more naturally-spoken, and faster-spoken. If WPWX changed imaging, they could possibly add 60 seconds per hour or MORE which could add more spot slots.
WSRB has changed imaging THREE TIMES since the station signed on. Currently its Sizzle/Rick Party. RICK woulda been GREAT TO HEAR on WPWX for imaging.
Jay Douglas was a PERFECT FIT for WSRB, as he matches Michael Baisden's show... must be a thing with Jay Alan and Rick Party for him not to capitalize on Sizzle hmm....

Tifa is the best, she says "Power 92 who's this" and takes a call. Intro's a song "on Power" and goes into the song. GREAT!!!! Name the station and get on with the business. Less time talkin jumble makes more time for listener interaction, calls, airshift CREATIVITY, and more spot slots (really??). Enough liner-jocks.
Anyway, time to get it CURRENT WPWX. No more OLD SCHOOL. When I hear Old school R&B on WPWX (preset #1), then turn to WSRB (Preset #2) and hear similar, something is wrong!
