WQCD messed up

WQCD's decision to pull the chill music from it's playlist may have been a good one given the format it aired since it's tweak. They'd lost some numbers but in my opinion I think they were lost because they were afraid to go chill all the way. They tried to appeal to the urban ac, smooth jazz and young trendy types with chill. All demographics that don't actually mix too well.
I believe that if cd101.9 had actually taken the plunge and dared to be different not half way but all the way, their chill format may have actually been a success.
Since they just couldn't quite do it, their new urban ac/smooth jazz playlist ala WNUA, Chicago may help them at least get back to a specific direction.
It'll probably show in the ratings but what a waste of a great idea for creative radio. Now time to get back to that safe commericial boring radio format!
:(

This is the time to tweak CD to get the work day audience that LTW has. Listen to XM Ch.23 and picture that music on CD101.9 in NYC. Its a great blend of soft music, but not too soft, Shania,Phil Collins, Kelly Clarkson,Stylistics,BeeGees,Boys 2 Men,Bangles etc. Great sounds!!!!!!!!!!

"Shania, Phil Collins, Boys 2 Men etc." YIKES!!! I think I'll go tighten a noose around my neck! lol...just fooling around, though I think the Bangles were a damn fine group.

Oh good, if you won't be using that noose, may I have it? Stylistics and Boyz 2 Men, I've heard on 101.9. Phil Collins even made it to the website's header once upon a time, the rest of those artists do not belong on a jazz-leaning station. Kelly Clarkson has every other station, I know where to find her if I want to hear her.
______________
...in my day, you could tell the stations apart by the music they played!

FYI The current WQCD PD was once a PD for the XM radio dance lineup (which hasn't been the same since is departure). It's cool that he tried something different. Too bad niche programming doesn't work well on the FM dial.
