WQDD Girardville

I live in Hazleton and I'm listening to it right now as I write this. Or I think this is WQDD anyway. Hazleton is about 10-12 air miles from Girardville, so an LPFM would likely reach here. It's run two liners --both calling itself "Wood FM." The first said it was "positive and uplifting." The second was a bit longer, and had both a male and female voice. The male said something like, "Calendar months change, but we won't. In 2012 we promise to remain...." Then the female voice said, "Positive and uplifting.....Wood FM" Or is it, "Word FM?" It's Contemporary Christian. The signal is weak -- a lot of static. In fact, it's gotten weaker in the last ten minutes and is barely audible. But it is there.

It is indeed Word-FM. It lists 10 stations:

88.1 (WZXM) Harrisburg, PA • 88.9 (WBYO) Sellersville, PA
• 88.1 (WZZD) Warwick, PA • 89.1 (WBYH) Hawley, PA
• 88.3 (WZXE) East Nottingham, PA • 90.9 (WZZH) Honesdale, PA
• 88.3 (WZXQ) Chambersburg, PA • 91.7 (WZXH) Hagerstown, MD
• 88.7 (WBYX) Stroudsburg, PA • 91.9 (WYTL) Wyomissing, PA

And seven translators -- and it's apparently calling the Girardville outlet a Hazleton translator.

.

Translators:• 93.1 Carlisle, PA • 103.7 Hamburg, PA
• 93.3 Wilkes-Barre, PA • 106.1 Waynesboro, PA
• 101.7 Coatesville, PA • 107.9 Hazleton, PA
• 103.5 Center Valley, PA

No, WQDD-LP is a separate station. The Word-FM station you're hearing on 107.9 is 10-watt translator, W300BT, licensed to Nescopeck Pass. See http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?list=0&facid=156246.

My understanding is they were on air in 2006 for a while...then went dark...then came back a few years ago. They recently filed to go dark because of flood in fall and are still off air.
