WQEW-what if it was revamped?

Since I can't imagine seeing the Bloombergs selling off WBBR, here's a hypothetical situation: Disney/ABC sells off WQEW and some company comes in and revamps it to look like this on the weekdays:

5-9AM: WQEW Morning News
9-12PM: Stephanie Miller
12-3PM: Ed Schultz
3-7PM: WQEW Afternoon Show-local progressive talker
7-9PM: Some syndicated talker
9-12AM: Mike Malloy
12-5AM: Some syndicated shows

Thoughts on if it could work, drawing listeners away from WWRL?

If you can't imagine Bloomberg selling AM 1130 off, what makes you imagine Disney (not ABC anymore) would sell AM 1560? :D

Not only that... what makes him think that WWRL has any listeners to draw off?

And this is after they bought off the 1590 and 1600 frequency. ;D

Liberal yakkers can't seem to get ratings anywhere on the dial in NYC .See 1050,1190,1600.

Not if you take the jingoistic-AM con-talk approach.

Moderate-Liberal talk is a different animal, if done right it results is a station such as WNYC a&f which has an operating budget 7 million dollars higher than WABC's billing.

Santa Monica's KCRW is another good example of Liberal oriented talk/music format.

Don't let the failure of Air America fool you, the future of talk radio isn't with hannity or savage etc.

NPR on WNYC is indeed a good example. WWRL is not. Their signal sucks, even after they bought out all those other small AM's on adjacent frequencies to "expand" their coverage area. I guess all they really accomplished is that more fish in the ocean can hear their signal!

There's absolutely no reason why WQEW would be "revamped" because it's already fully accomplishing what its owners, Disney, want it to do: a full-power radio presence of their brand name, Radio Disney, in the nation's #1 market. That certainly helps when the time comes to sell national ads on the station. Same reason that ESPN Radio is on the air in NYC despite far weaker numbers than WFAN, and why so many syndicated programs, such as everyone's favorite, Delilah, are cleared in NYC.

Unless you're 12 years old or younger, or drive around in the minivan a lot with 12 years olds or younger, Radio Disney doesn't care whether or not you can stand "Hanna Montana" or not.
