"Hot 97 Adds Strada As APD/MD
Former WPYO PD heads to WQHT
By Hillary Crosley
[EDIT]

I am suprised they went outside the station to fill this position. Angie or Mister Cee would have worked just fine. I would think promotion from within would work the best. I did notice the station Jill Strada left is similar to Hot 97, It's Urban leaning Rhythmic as well so the music shouldn't change much.

Kinda off topic also from R&R and IT'S ABOUT FREAKIN TIME!!!!!:

"This week, Emmis announced that all of its 23 stations in the U.S. will be streaming audio on the Internet.[EDIT]

[EDIT-post truncated because originating material appears to be copyrighted

"Rhythmic outlets WQHT (Hot 97)/New York, KPWR (Power 106)/Los Angeles and KDHT (Hot 93.3)/Austin are some of the Emmis properties that will begin streaming this fall. "

I wonder if this signals some change in music afterall. "Hip-hop' is highly regionalized
(and don't be playing from the wrong region) most areas already have such a station and as a genre it's stagnant and fading.

Streaming mainly seems to make sense locally for offices where OtA doesn't reach.

How many offices want Hot97?

Offices are not the only workplaces. There are factories, loading docks, construction sites, etc., where such a station would commonly be listened to.

With a computer? More likely a beat-up boombox.

I can't believe they played ANYTHING by Maroon 5!?! And that Paris Hilton song isn't even a hit amymore! Very weird.

I have been noticing that Hot 97 has been sounding a bit more mainstream lately. I've been noticing a little more pop product (for example, I've caught a lot of Justin Timberlake whenever I sample the station).

Heck, this morning I heard "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse!

Rival Power 105.1 has also played some Justin and even gave away tickets to one of his gigs earlier this year.

Get with The Program People ! This is not The Boyband Days ! Justin Timberlake music is all over the Urban Charts . Justin Timberlake said that he is not a Pop act , he is a R&B singer , and Urban and Chr/Rhythmic Stations ( and Listeners) are Buying what Justin Timberlake said .

Remember it was a mixshow weekend for the holiday at Hot97 when looking at the playlist.
I think Jill is a great fit - very passionate about the music.
