WQIO and WMVO closes

I saw on the FCC's website that the sale of WQIO-FM and WMVO-AM in Mt. Vernon from Clear Channel to BAS was granted on Friday. Anyone notice any changes yet, or if no changes yet, when will it be happening and to what format?

"granted" does not mean consummated.

As the Eagles noted, the lawyers need to clean up all the small details.

The approval of a license transfer still means that the deal actually has to be closed. The parties then notify the FCC of the legal closing, and it takes effect after that is recorded. The soon-to-be-licensee cannot take over the station until that happens. (Unless, of course, it is already programming and selling the station via an LMA, which it doesn't appear BAS has with Clear Channel for these stations.)

I can think of one small AM station in western PA, just over the Ohio border, which STILL shows an approval for a license transfer which never legally materialized.

From the press releases I've seen, the target date for BAS to take over WQIO/WMVO is sometime in October. They are apparently in the midst of research of the market before the takeover; that could explain the absence of an LMA.

I'll be heading out over to the Loudenville area this weekend - oughta be very interesting to check out "The Fox Network," the now-CHR Y105, and the WMVO/WQIO combo.
