WQMA AM 1520

I've been meaning to ask the same question. The last time I checked the website was still up, and was still streaming. This was even after it was supposedly off the air. Radio locator list it as silent.

FCC website says,

"Deleted facility record.
Deleted facilities cannot be reactivated. Interested parties must file an
application for construction permit during the approprate AM application
filing window."

I was up at the Wal-Mart in Grenada today and heard the oldies on 1520 again. They are definitely on the air, with an ad for — get this — Steve & DC in the morning.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't those guys been out of radio for about half a year now? ;)

Last time I checked, (COB today) FCC still takes a rather dim view of operating radio station without benefit of a license. Seems its a Federal crime....

"flagrante delicto".

Arguably, even having the equipment connected but turned off is past the threshold of rule violation.

Heard unidentified station today on what appeared to be on 1520, running an apparently "American Gold" syndicated program...Will have to check further on a digital radio...JBI

Heard announcer wish everyone a happy tuesday...local spot for a burger joint
with 1/2 pound burgers. closing with jingle including WQMA, Marks.
Who's next? This at approx 2:50 today.

Heard the anncr say Happy Tuesday on Friday? Wait. Think I saw this on an episode from "Lost". Creepy. Was there a French woman speaking????

Was waiting for someone to catch this...that's what HE said. I'll bet this is a program loop on hard drive, or maybe even a simulcast w/the web. Maybe somebody closer and interested can compare the feeds...whatever...
I would imagine whoever is paying the electric bill is going to get a shock, and not electrical...JBI

I hope it's eventually renewed. I hate to see a license totally lost. It might take a long time, I know of several others in limbo renewal, one since 1995.

speaking of WQMA, whatever happened to the guy that used to post about WQMA on this board and numerous other boards on this website? Did he go away or just change his screen name?

You may be referring to Paul Walker. Paul worked at WQMA a few stations ago. I don't know if still posts here, but I'm sure he probably, like me, checks in from time to time.
Regards.....

That was The People's Court. I posted it when I saw it. It was about him promising to help the guy find a job in radio. The guy sent Paul his aircheck and Paul accidentally lost or destroyed it. He lost.

Do you have a copy of it? Paul promised me a copy of it, but he lost it when he temporarily moved back in with his parents in Colchester, Connecticut.
