WQMS-AM 1500 Quitman, MS

The station has about 45 days to make it back on the air before it faces possible license revocation.

Last I knew, the contiuabiltiy of the tower lease for 1500AM from the KLOV site was questionable and the AM Transmitter needed some work.

I've tried contacting the owner Steven Hellinger or attorney Scott Cinnamon to see what their plans were. Mr. Hellinger only paid $12,500 for it!

I also asked if they were interested in selling, but I got ignored.

My former boss, Dave Hedrick, is brokering that station. I don't know what they are asking, but he asked me if I wanted to buy it, right after he let me go. And to make matters worse, he KNEW what I made before he asked me! LOL

Anyway, look up WGAD AM in Gadsden, Alabama... call him there.

And tell him Phillip sent you.

Well, the station has about 40 days to get back on the air, assuming it's still silent as the FCC assumes it is.

I know they paid $12,500 for it.... I can't iamgine what theyre asking.

I'm not exactly sure.. but something could be done with it I'm sure.

I"m not really sure there is anything that could be done for this station. All the "popular" formats are taken by bigger stations in markets that can support themselves. Quitman is such a small community, it will be extremely hard to attract advertising dollars from the Meridian stations, as well as from local cable. Not to mention, that thanks to KLOVE, its now a standalone AM, that will be searching for a new transmitter and tower (and all the FCC filing fees commisurate with such a change).

Whatever it is, it would have to be a one man band... one guy, programming, selling, MAYBE hosting a morning show, and making sure the satellite or automation works properly for the rest of the day.

A friend of mine looked at buying this sometime late last year.... He told me there was the possibility of KLOVE actually letting the lease continue.

And yes, it'd most likely be a one man band.. morning show, production, engineering, office work.... etc
