WQQQ Sharon, CT sold to WAMC

How did the WQQQ calls end up on 103.3 MHz? It's supposed to be used on a station on 99.9, because when printed in lowercase, the q's look like 9's.

A few months ago, the station was stunted with an oldies format before it flipped to a simulcast of WAMC. I was so disappointed that WQQQ pulled the plug on the infamous oldies stunt during the last few months when WQQQ was playing oldies after WSHU Public Radio pulled the plug last year. The only Ridgefield station left is its sister station WRIP in Windham, NY which is an AC station.

To make things even more sadder, the last remaining npr station in the region is WHDD in Sharon, CT

UHHH. WQQQ is still public radio/NPR.. WHDD and WQQQ just program different.. but both are NPR member stations, @SarahB98

O/T somewhat but perhaps on-beat enough here is a quirk.

Then-WKZE 1020 was one of the first 'DX'-type stations I logged after moving here to PA. It was at sunset. I forget their wattage at the time. But it assuredly was no blowtorch.

And just a few months *before* the re-location, WKZE 1020 was the last 'new catch' for me on Long Island. Again, it was at sunset. A nice null on 1010 WINS plus the convenient default 90-degree angle helped.
That DX was from Valley Stream, near the 'r' in 'New York' on the linked map. Use the zoom-out provision.

Also helping reception matters here and on Long Island is that KDKA Pittsburgh has one of the two worst 50,000 watt omni signals I can recall.
WGY 810 Schenectady is the other. :)

Apologies for the DX detour.

Pretty sure 1020 has always been a strict sunrise to sunset daytimer
