WQRC - Karen Blake

Anyone know what happened to Karen? She was released from the morning show a couple weeks ago and her partner Ralphie M. is holding down the fort solo now. Just wondering if she was too pricey for them. Looked up some cape rating from last spring and The Q looks like it isn't doing that great - too bad cause I like the station and thought the Karen and Ralphie duo was a good show. WCOD with Dan and Stephanie seems to have a lock on the hot A/C market though. Looks like rebranding as The Q a few years back hasn't worked out the way they wanted. Again - too bad - the station sounds great to me.

The Cape is a bit weird for radio. It has a lot a stations but there is a lot of voice tracking and syndication even in drive times. Karen was voice tracking PM drive on WOCN 104.7 which, based on its ratings, you would think it could support someone live in PM drive. Also I had to get used to various hosts who apparently are smokers coughing and their gravelly voices croaking thru the morning shows. Doesn't mean I don't like them but it is a thing (I'll never forget when I first moved here wondering why the one station didn't have a cough button as I listened to the host coughing up a lung for two hours). Karen and Ralphie maybe a bit too top notch for the market. And on WCOD there is that almost deranged laughing from one host that goes on - but I guess people like it.
