WQTY Linton

Was listening to WQTY for several days now and if someone who works there is reading this I have a question. Why are you constantly running Ron Fosters tags and liners for you entire broadcasting operations? I'm sure ABC offers jock liners for each of their air personalities that are on air for all 7 days in the week. Come on Mark Lang, you can do better.

he commmon feeling is one BIG VOIcE is better than trying to match magic calls of 15 jocks from any network, some barely network grade. With the multitude of weekly changes in schedules this is compunded. Some Network owned stations do the same ie Citadel. True Oldies Channel affiliates don't have this issue. One jock.

Mark has been doing local radio since day one and is local. He didn't get it handed to him. When you buy a station you can make those calls...

OK, if I have to be an owner to comment, then I'm qualified to comment. I've not heard this station, but your point about one promo voice substituting for individual magic calls can be confusing or distracting. This sounds like a move of convenience, since as we all know, the audience doesn't care anyway. Right?

I'd rather hear the same guy all day than to not hear the proper jock calls when the sat DJ calls in sick.

Which is what was happening on WQTY the last time I listened (a year ago today I think - they were paying tribute to Elvis)

Yea I kinda got the point. Hearing Mark's other stations and how well they sound surprised me that this was done on WQTY. But for those of you who don't know, Ron Foster is an afternoon jock on ABC classic hits format, formally oldies radio. It does sound wierd to hear him all day and evening long. When the station back home use to run ABC oldies radio they did have each jock's magic calls etc. Then the network had the "Big Voice" that said various things. It sounded very professional when done right. But your right Chief, not many people notice and that's too bad. Someone hand me my mp3 player!!

When 94.7 in Chicago (WLS-FM) went to the True Oldies Channel, it was all Scott Shannon, all the time. Only when they brought in
Dick Biondi and the rest, did it break it up. Maybe that was his inspiration.

no he can't. maybe 20 years ago when he gave a crap. he's too busy getting sued these days to concern himself with something as trivial as liners.

If you think Mark Lang can do better, visit WREB in Greencastle. That place is a dump.
