WQXR - New York - Processing

That's what it looks like to me ;)

That is not my setup, but I can tell you WQXR does sound amazing.

I may add this

http://www.necrat.com/wqew_proam.html

Finally a chance to SEE my second favorite AM airchain of all time. The Tri-Mazes of stereo WQEW, which were retired from main service in 1997. They can be seen in picture 7; 3/4 of the way down on rack 4 (the blue and black processors).

If they were smart they would put these back on the air. The station hasn't sounded anywhere near as good since.

Looking at the coil sizes in the networks shown in pic 10 and 11, I'm guessing the left contactor might be switching between the day and night antenna coupling networks, and the right contactor switches in a smaller detuning network for when another tower is running in non-DA emergency/maintenance mode. *Or*, if the tower shown is one of towers that is powered in only one mode, then the three positions/networks might be (powered) NDA network, (powered) DA network and detuning network (when the station is running the "other" pattern on the other towers).

It's a showcase site, no matter what. Yay to Necrat for the pix.

That may be an *and*

IIRC, WQEW can run 10kw Non-D if need be. Also, they use different towers day/night. Nighttime for them starts at sunset in Bakersfield CA.
