A simulcast doesn't make much sense to me, other than the fact the AM side can be run with a minimum of warm bodies and no programming cost. Unless:
1: It's a ruse to keep Clear Channel guessing, and another talk format will appear.
2: It's in preparation for the sale of 1010.
3: It's a placeholder for a future change.
3: It's for the sole benefit of that one poor soul who only has an AM radio (rumor has it he fills out his diary faithfully....)
BTW..have the WQYK AM calls been applied for?
