WQYK Gets Busted Filling out Diaries

Thanks for finally joining this discussion we started last week in another thread. If you'd bother to read the news stories in there entirety about this, you'd know it wasn't WQYK "the station" that got busted. It was a personality on a brokered show that airs on 1010. So actually, it's your comments and the fact that I'm actually replying to them is what's sad.

In all fairness:

1) Perhaps he was unaware that Leslee Lacey was involved in the diary fiasco (hence why it's being discussed in the thread that bears her name).

2) Maybe there's something about WQYK-FM that we don't know about.

Unfortunately it IS WQYK (AM 1010) that was busted. What you say about the person involved is all true, and we know about it because of all the postings, but IS the station that is taking the hit. This persons name has not been a part of any story, other than this board, on Radio-Info and probably other media publications, its WQYK this, WQYK that. The scandal itself will always be associated with WQYK. As a business owner I know if any of my people screw up, whether they are a W4 employee or 1099 contractor, the kaka lands at my doorstep.

And as far as not getting caught, I am sure this person thought, it her own mind that since she was not an employee of WQYK that this somehow was okay. Only my guess but no other plausible explanation, this plan was doomed from the beginning.

OK... I stand corrected. Good points. How bad do you think the team at CBS wishes now that AM 1010 had different call letters? It would seem to me that the FM, which had nothing to do with all this, might suffer due to some confusion that "WQYK" is consistently named in this scandal. If you're not in the business and you read this story, how many are immediately thinking 99.5?

You are so right there, I am sure the FM guys are saying give us a break! However this story is really of interest only to us media types although I was suprised that Eric Deggans hasnt at least meantioned it in his column in the SP Times. He usually has something to say about the ratings when they come out and this is a little jucier than just reporting the numbers. If I missed it will someone please let me know.

Apparently, Arbitron has been investigating additional diary offenses that are linked to WQYK AM that are not connected with Lacey. The only reason we are hearing about it on this site is because the story is not over, and no reporter of any credibility would write half-truths.

Does anyone know the methodology used by ARBITRON when placing a diary? Nielsen asks "Are you or is anyone in your home employed by or a principal owner of......"

Sad that you don't even know how to fill out a diary without getting caught. Sad!

Just curious, how did she get caught? And most importantly, how did the word spread out that she got caught?
What exactly and how many diaries are we talking about? One or many more?

i believe this is referring to additional diaries connected to WQYK AM that were filled out by on-air talent and is not linked to her. The latest Arbitron investigation revolves around one non CBS employee who is on air, one current CBS employee, and one former CBS employee who is still on air. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the AM schedule over the next couple weeks. Looks like the "kaka" will apparently end up where it belongs...
