FCC website says their application hasn't been approved yet, so either the site is being slow or someone's jumping the gun...

This is an FCC authorized test transmitter. The WPLN antenna is short for 830 kHz based on FCC Figure 8 efficiency model so they must measure the near field and prove otherwise. This is the second go around on this project and involves many close-in field measurements along eight radials. I think they were going to wrap it up today but may have been rained out. The minimum the FCC will allow on a station of this class is 282mV/m/km/kw. This will have to be submitted to the FCC before CP is granted.

I saw where Bud has applied an amendment to the application for 2 KW, daytime, for 830 AM. This will add more value to the facility, so once he gets it on, it wouldn't shock me if he sells it OR leases it to a group like Multicultrial Radio or the Polnet Group. I'm sure they would love to be in this market. Both groups own "ethnic" (secular or religious) stations, mostly in the eastern part of the U.S. More and more inner city AM stations are headed in that direction, due to the FM's can take care of "localism" for the majority of a metro market. Perfect example: 1240 AM. Peter Davidson's group owns it and his group programs only to an ethnic population. I guess these days it's the only way a Class B, C or D inner city AM station can make it these days.
