I take it that they're going to go for a softer approach and play more classics, a la KBZT San Diego. Alternative radio was at its best up until the late 90s and early 2000s, when a lot of the harder stuff like Limp Bizkit and Korn found their way into the format. My guess is that when active rock stations started popping up in cities with alt-rockers, those same alt-rockers got harder to keep up and ended up alienating a lot of listeners. I used to like listening to the X when passing through Birmingham and I hope they're able to recapture some of that magic from the 90s.

looked at their website, will sample their stream later.
looks a lost like WZEW in mobile (considered AAA), but heck,
they play just about anything. i do miss the playing of
"88 lines about 44 women" 3 times a day and the regular paul
simon...those are things you normally don't hear on fm radio
anymore but hey - i'm up here in cullman anyway. we only get
the "new x....at 100.5" if we hold our nose hairs just right...

should be interesting.

I have heard the Vintage Vault play "88 Lines About 44 women before." Edited of course. Or are you talking about San Diego. They have a COOL chill show at that station.

There website looks the same as it always has.
