WRBA Rebrands As B95.9

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/189597/wrba-rebrands-as-b95-9/

According to the release its going to be a classic hits branding but will remain classic Rock for the time being.

Great American Media has rebranded “Classic Rock 95.9” WRBA Springfield/Panama City FL as “B95.9“.

While the station is positioning as “Classic Hits”, the format remains completely Classic Rock with a playlist emphasizing music from the 1970s and 80s and eliminating much of the 90s it had been playing. That pulls the station away musically from Magic Broadcasting’s “97X” 97.7 WYYX and iHeartMedia’s “96 Rock” 96.3 W242BF.

In my opinion that is a bad move. The name "B-95" might confuse some listeners because there is already a "Beach 95". Continuing to be jockless doesn't help and the signal is very poor. I imagine they may never recover from the hurricane. 95.9 was always pretty solid but these days it seems like they are off the air more than they are on. Will JB&B return? At this point I assume no one in the market is picking them up. I wish 95.9 well but feel if it remains on auto pilot it will be hard to pull decent numbers. At least Rogatinsky had someone voicetracking it and they did play some deep cuts from time to time but even then it was on autopilot because occasionally I kept hearing a sweeper for "The Rock 107.5" that somehow got into rotation.
