WRCH LITE 100.5 LOSING NUMBERS

Lame?....Really?
They have an excellent execution for the format.
You have to remember that that format is supposed to be "lame" to any of us radio geeks.\
Where did you see the numbers?

Yeah, where exactly are these numbers? I haven't see anythig to suggest a decline.

I don't have the Hartford numbers so I cannot speak to that, but overall across the country, the AC format is having a lot of problems. The HOT AC format is coming on a lot stronger. The AC format is becoming the "new" Easy format as the former 25-54's become 35-64's and the former 18-34's are now the 25-54's. Their memories are different than the past generation's and so the format hasn't truly evolved, leaving way for the HOT AC format to break in. HOT AC has been around for a long time, but with the strong influence of Alt. Rock such as Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Coldplay, etc. on Top 40 adults, they now have a place to go that doesn't play rap and yet doesn't put them to sleep. Don't get me wrong, I love the "Movin' Easy" format (that Siruis XM did away with) but I also love the Top 40/No rap/HOT AC format as well. There is now an in between. Back in the late 90's, the HOT AC format was less aggressive than it is now, though I wouldn't call it aggressive. It was more tip-toe through the Top 40 back then and play anything on the light side of Top 40. I really like the new sound of HOT AC. It's working in Detroit BIG TIME!

According to Arb they have been dropping in their target female 25-54. Predictable boring radio will cause that. ::)

Again I ask you....Show me these "falling numbers"
WRCH is doing just fine in arbs and BTW/ making TONS of MONEY.
I doubt there will be any changes anytime soon.
You have to realize one thing.....GM's, PD's Market Managers etc know that Arbitron is a joke.
It all comes down to MONEY.
If you make money you survive....If you're number one in the arbs with a 99 share but don't hit budget you're GONE.....104 anyone??

RCH will get advertisers cause they are the only LITE game in town. As a former AE there I surveyed numerous potential advertisers. Many of them couldn't even tell you one personality on the station. A common response was " I just like the music they play". RCH is backgound music. People don't listen to it, they HEAR it.

I would play RCH in our waiting room, not because it was good but because it was soothing velveeta and it helped people chill. Like plain Tofu.
If there were only two choices (THANK GOD THERE ARE MORE) between RCH and listening to Jerry K on DRC do his DUMB faux celebrity interviews...I think I'd pick RCH! That stuff from Jerry is just BAD RADIO.

The management of Buckley radio think he is the real deal. But then again you have to question the sanity of Buckley radio managemente.

"Sad that mind-numbing garbage attracts advertisers. But we are talking about CT morning radio."

The Marty McGillicuddies than run the stations and the advertisers both have bad taste in radio. But it makes money right...

WKZE is the only commercial radio in the state with any ounce of creativity.

Buckley does NOT think Jerry is the real deal...he doesn't even have a contract.
J/K works without a contract cause Wayne Mulligan is out of there. One of the many reasons J/K left back in 1997. Surprised he doesn't have an agent? Most CT radio morning show hosts in decent markets have a rep.
