WRDM CA DTV 19

Would I be able to receive them in New Britain? I don't even see a trace of their current channel 50 signal.

I was wondering if anyone knows the status of DTV 19 WRDM Hartford. Is there a sign-on date yet?

They don't have the necessary FCC permit yet - at least as of Tuesday the Commission hasn't acted on their application.

Anyone notice that the Hartford Courant continues to call this station channel 13 in its TV listings every week?

He means they still list them as channel 13, as if they were still over the air on that channel. To clarify, channel 59 is listed as 59 and not "9".

I know what he meant. According to the FCC, WRDM moved from ch 13 to ch 44 in 2001, then to ch 50 in 2006, but according to both Zap2It and TitanTV, they continue to be on channel 13 on cable. It's not unusual for a newspaper to list a station by its cable channel, especially if it uses that channel number for branding. For example, the San Diego Union-Tribune lists KNSD 7/39, KPBS 11/15, KUSI 9/51, Fox 5 San Diego, and UPN 13/49, (even though UPN has been gone for 2 years and the station is MyNetworkTV now). The real channel numbers are KNSD 39, KPBS 15, KUSI 51, KSWB 69 and XHDTV 49. I think the Arizona Republic lists KASW 61 as channel 6, as they brand themselves as CW6.

WCTX has only begun using "My TV 9" branding within the past 2 years and UPN 9 for a year before that. They didn't brand by channel 9 before 2005.

i wasn't aware WRDM ever operated on Channel 44

Perhaps not. They show a CP granted to move to ch 44 on 2/16/01, then a license to cover on ch 44 issued on 4/10/01. I had assumed at that point, they were operating on ch 44. However, an application to assign the license was filed on 4/18/01 as ch 13, and on 11/17/03, the CP to move to ch 44 was canceled. So maybe they were on ch 13 until moving to ch 50 in 2006 then.

Still, it's common practice for a station to be listed by its cable channel. Question for locals: WRDM-CA is on ch 19; does it ID on PSIP as channel 19.1 or 50.1?

WDMR-LP Springfield, the sister to WRDM-CA has a CP to go from 142KW on Channel 51 to 15KW.

It appears that WDMR is staying on 51 and the CP is for a Digital Flash Cut.

I will check with an Engineering Buddy of mine who knows a bit of WRDM's history, but I don't think Channel 44 was ever on the air.. I could be very wrong though.

Just to clarify, the Courant lists all channels by their analog OTA channel number (albeit not always their current channel). There are no channels listed by cable numbers. In this market, there are so many different cable companies it especially would not make sense to do that.

According to my engineer friend in Connecticut, WRDM never actually used Channel 44.

Both WRDM and the Channel 48 on the WCCC tower will remain on their analog channels when they go digital.

Is Channel 48 still showing the wonderful program "All Colorbars, All the time?" *smirk*

Don't know.... WRNT-48 is the old Channel 6.

I don't know if WRDM and WRNT are on the same tower or not, but both are on the WCCC owned towers.

WHCT-LP 38, WRNT-LP 48 and WRDM-LP 50 are all on the primary WCCC-FM tower.
WHCT-LP is near the top on 38, with a digital CP to go to 7 at the same height.
WRDM-CA is further down on 50, with a digital AP to go to 19 at the same height.
WRNT-LP is halfway up the tower on 48, with a digital Ap also on 48 slightly higher.

WDMR-CA in Springfield is on 51, on top of Provin Mountain (on it's own tower), with a Digtial CP to use 51 with 15kW.

Up in Springfield, WESA-LP 34 is on the air from the old Charter tower in Wilbraham and has a digital Cp to remain on 34.
(WESA-LP and WRNT-LP are both co-owned by Sal Minnitti)

Ugh. Overkill. We've got Univison on 18, Azteca America on 38, and Telefutura on 47 (18.3 with an HDTV). What provider is 48 using?

Not really sure, but in the evening, they run hours upon hours of HNN (Hispanic News Network) which I haven't found a website for yet, right now, there's a logo in the upper left that says "unsion"

Could that be the site you were looking for but couldn't find?
