WRDU IS BACK!

"Lloyd, just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber, you turn around and do this!" The immortal words of Harry in the movie "Dumb and Dumber" (subtitled "the Mark and Randal Mays story").

As for Blade...I'll bet he can't stop laughing.

I definately smell a format flip. Is this really the best they can do? Rock and roll is going to push in on WRVA's money in the market. 96 rock gets there share of the cash in the market and The River is designed to take as much of it as they can. I would think they would throw The Rooster under the bus before they think about picking the ever shinking pockets of RVA.

Just think about it, they brought the old name back, they brought the old logo back, i think 'RDU is going to be revived in the next couple of weeks. This would be interesting if RDU comes back would they return as the classic rockstation and the river return to alternative, or would RDU come back as another form of rock ( modern, active). This could be very interesting if indeed they are coming back.

There is no way they will go to classic rock and risk damage to their second best billing station--the river. The whole company is about to fall off a cliff. You don't flip formats at a time like this unless you are planning on being out of a job.

Where's Blade when you need him?

He's still on 96Rock, and I'm sure he's gloating about the continued freefall on 106.1... they killed that pesky Rooster, but the ratings are still going downhill... I wonder if 106.1 will still air the Carolina football and basketball games? When Carolina won the NCAA basketball championship in '05, 100.7 was still airing the games, despite WTRG's metamorphosis to The River, but the games moved to 106.1 the following season. Then CC killed 106.1 the season after that... If the pattern holds--- Carolina won the championship again this year--- the games will move to another station (again). All we know is, if they do move, it won't be to 99.9 like the Bulls, 'Canes, etc., since CBC's already picked up State (on 101.5). Guess we'll find out in September when football season kicks off...

Here's news that will quiet the rumors that 106.1 will be changing to rock. The night guy for CC Country WBCT in Grand Rapids will be voicetracking nights for WRDU. His name is Broadway. He also VT's for WWYZ-Hartford, KNIX-Phoenix, WMIL-Milwaukee and KWNR-Las Vegas.

That show has been on 106.1 for well over a month.
Not too impressive. Very generic.

Generic IS impressive in CC-land

...and he drains one from 40 feet!

Well done, sir. (golf clap here)

Thankin' ye, sir. Don't forget about the 10 o'clock show & bring your friends.

Broadway hasn't been on for a month. He took over for Zac Davis (who is in Denver now) and he works out of Greensboro. It's only been 2 weeks now and we don't know what RDU is going to do. I think someone is right that NC sports will stay on RDU as all of the billing in under Dick Harlow's name. No one in the building makes commission in it. Trust me...I know

I agree, they probably won't lose the Heels, but if they do there is a building and a scholarship on the Chapel Hill campus named for Don Curtis. I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'.

WRDU is back!!!...said the headline.
Well, shoot. ???

I tuned in for some tired KANSAS, and all I got was some tired ALABAMA.

Well, if you think about it, changing back to Rock would make sense for CC. It will probably be the same thing they just changed the Buzzard to in Greensboro. Don't ya think???? That's probably the hot new Rock format and they're going to do it in both markets. They may change a Charlotte station to it as well. If I were a bettin' man, I'd bet on it!
