The Rooster huh?

P.S. The last song aired on 106.1 RDU was Freebird.

All we can hope for now is that at 5:00 we'll get a completely different format than what's stunting now, because Rooster Country 1061 blows.

Perhaps Bob and tom move to 100.7, Blade joins them, and they reimage as 100.7 RDU.

Nah, it'll never happen.

They are approaching the destination, at which point they will inhale large amounts of chicken.

You know... he ain't gonna die.

I heard through another cluster that this is 106.1 is going to go Alternative. Who knows with CC though.

I really need to work on some liners for one of my clients... but I'm sitting here listening to 106.1. What is it about stunting that captivates me so?

"I heard through another cluster that this is 106.1 is going to go Alternative. Who knows with CC though.
"

Yes, pray that If they really do destroy RDU they'll go alternative, or...something. Just not country; there's enough of that around.

Bob and tom mornings, alternative all day. It might work alright, but there's the John Boy and billy factor in the way.

5pm: 106.1 The Rooster is born.

John Boy & Billy starting Monday morning.

After a 3 minute or so promo, first song is "All My Rowdy Friends"

5:00, "WRDU wilson, Raleigh, new home of today's country and legends. The new Rooster 106.1."

"From this moment forward, radio landscape changes forever. Welcome to Rooster country. The Triangle's new number one for legends and today's best country."

Music clips begin.

"But the Rooster hasn't forgotten the roots of today's best country." Six decades of all your favorite country."

John Boy and Billy then open up with applause. "We're back in Raleigh, very impressed."

Big Show starts Monday.

So it begins.

Clear channel are idiots. That's all I will say.

Did anyone capture the stunt? I'm curious as to what they played during the stunt. For WFMX they did that "Kiss" loop; when WTRG flipped two years ago, it simulcast Sunny, G105, 1490 Rejoice, and RDU, followed by "The Bull," before unveiling The River; and on Oldies 93 Entercom had that annoying robotic countdown.

Can anyone explain why when CC stations play "Here for the Party", they edit out the lyric: "I'm here for the beer and the ball busting band"?

I concur, Mr. 1012. They are idiots.

I didn't think to hit record, sorry.

Here's the rundown more or less:

Over and over until 5pm legal id starting new station.

It was pretty bland (and short) as far as stunts go.

Personally, I think this is a WEAK sign on. I mean, first of all, the music isn't that great and the imaging isn't either. You only stunt for an hour!?!!?

I don't get it. When you're going to take on a heritage station like WQDR, you better come swinging out of the cage!

409

I don't know, it's not that bad. I would have stayed away from the slow female songs for a few hours, but that's just me.

I kinda dig the imaging, but I've always been a fan of Brian James. Anybody named Brian who images radio must be a good guy right? ;D

Will this flip make WCMC/99.9 go in another direction??? They just don't have the signal like Rooster...

Can I add...FRIGGIN' IDIOTS!! Would be nice to see CC go...well, somewhere far, far, away. Here, again, though we ultimately have deregulation and the FCC to thank for this. Or, is it originally the local, community owners?? There's got to be someone to blame...

How about WCMC going Classic Rock? Or even better than that, 96.9?
96.9 is whooping ass in that market. Don't look for them to go anywhere.

Actually, don't look for any Curtis station to go CR unless 96.1 repositions.

96Rock is now the only real rock station around, they'd better do it right.

As for CMC, I'd love to see a AAA or Modern AC, but the signal's weak.

Like I've said earlier, there's too much missing. Radio, and it's programs don't bother me, but "what" is programmed does. Raleigh lacks so much, yet has thre country stations, and a few classic stations. No modern rock, alternative, AAA, ETC.

100.7--it was different, and it worked until last week. Now, you can forget about hearing John Mayer, Dave Matthews, or anyone else around in Raleigh.

There are too many country stations in listening range of Raleigh; there's not enough of anything else. God, so sad.

Time to stream KROQ, KLLC, KBCO, or some other station worth listening too--some "other" station that North Carolina doesn't have.
