WRDU Possible flip?

If the next ratings period doesnt go the roosters way do you think CC-R might consider spinning the wheel of formats again? Think about it and comment

No, You give Clear Channel way too much credit. The format is about John Boy and Billy, not about ratings. When JB&B go off in a few years then RDU will flip. I would suggest Classic Rock.

Why wouldn't they? I had truly held out hope that the whole "Rooster thing" was a stunt to re-launch WRDU The home of rock and roll.

Bring back any original RDU staffer who'll do it, and Raleigh would absolutely go for it. Reynolds and Silva...Brian Mac...Kitty....Donna...Blade...Tom...Gongaware....Bob...come on?

They're happy with what they've got. A point short of mediocre.
Live local morning show = shares. They ain't gonna do it. More
"live", more overhead.

You are correct.

This is your basic satellite ran country radio station with voicetracked DJ's.

No personality, no live/local, no identity, heck you could put this station anywhere in the country and you would never know Raleigh was the "home" of the rooster.

Clear Channel made this decision and they can live with the "high" ::) ratings for a while.

I grew up with RDU and sure it had grown stale over the years, but when they featured Reynolds and Silva, Bob the Blade, Gongaware, etc. it was one of the best radio stations around, live, local rock and roll and they had an attitude. Sure do miss those days in the 80's. :'( :(

I wonder how many stations that use to report to Rolling Stone and all the other magazines in the 80s-early 90s are still the same as back then?
Probably not many, sadly.

If RDU does change formats in the next year It'll be with permission from CC headquarters, if you know what I mean. Right now, let's say if they changed back to ROCK and got one of the gang back, for example, placing Reynolds in the morning (start w/ mornings first), their first book would produce at least a 4 share and "The River" would be a has been. Put Reynolds in the morning and "The Blade" back in the afternoon with a good blend of music and PROPER marketing and promotions, then RDU would be a station to compete with. That scenario probably will never happen. The management at CC Raleigh says "how high" when CC headquarters says jump! That means "stay country for now".
