I was stationed at Camp Pickett near Blackstone about 50 miles west of Petersburg in 1973, my main station was WRVQ which was called the super Q and played real tight top 40. Songs on heavy rotation, Smoke on the Water and I'm doin fine now, powerful signal and first top 40 station I ever heard on FM. Before I forget the original topic I also enjoyed an oldies station on 1540 which played great "oh wow" tunes like Leader of the Laundramat, it was fairly weak and a daytimer. Does anyone remember this station on 1540 and the original calls, this was the summer of 1973, I am in Philly PA and have not been down that way since then. On another note WLEE number one again was plastered all over the buses but I never heard them, the Q was the station for top 40 back then....
