Since no one else has mentioned it, from the WREK 91.1 website:
<blockquote>
We've changed our lineup of shows a little bit. But before you read any further, don't worry- we're not going corporate! You'll still hear the quality diverse programming you've come to expect.
We're making the changes for two reasons. First, over the years evening specialty shows have come and gone. When a new show started up, it was usually put in the first available time slot. So, some of our evening lineups don't quite make sense any more. With these changes, you'll be able to tune in for your favorite show, and we're pretty darn sure that you'll like the show before and after it too.
The second reason for the changes is that we're trying to more effectively serve the Georgia Tech community. This spring we conducted a survey to find out more about the interests of the students, faculty, and staff, and these changes reflect what we learned.
</blockquote>
Overview of changes:
- Public affairs programming moves from 12-1 weekday afternoons to 8-12 weekend mornings, with additions of EuroQuest and Planetary Radio
- Rock, Rhythm & Roll starts one hour earlier
- Monday evenings have a world music focus, featuring Jewish, Indian, African, French Caribbean, and our Continental Drift world music shows
- Tuesday evenings feature local music (The Underground Recordings [performances at WREK from the 1980s], Loud Smoky Rooms [local/regional music], Live @ WREK [live performances]) and the punk rock genre (Radiobomb & New Forces)
- Wednesday evenings retain electronic/experimental focus
- Thursday nights unite Jamaican Ska, Reggae, Hip Hop, Funk, and local dance mixes
- Country Classics, hosted by Joe Bussard of vintage78.com, moves to 5 pm Fridays, followed by two hours of blues during the Friday Night Fish Fry
- Stonehenge, our classic rock show, expands from 8-midnight Fridays
New Schedule
