No....you're right Roddy! It certainly is not there to make money......
It's owned and operated by a board composed of community activists, politicians, average folks, and one or two trouble makers(just for fun.)
Although politically it is rather extreme(left) it is also a group of very diverse people in every way. Everyone is welcomed.....as long as you can manage to get along with people different than yourself. It is the most imperfect organization I have ever observed....getting things done is an amazing process....but is is something quite unique and valuable.
This is really a "community" radio station. Anyone can be part of it, and after being trained, can be on the air. Even after considering all it's "warts" and other imperfections it is still one of Atlanta's most valuable media resources.
The media holds the REAL power in the modern world. CNN and Fox News have more political influence than the president of the US and Russia combined. Training people to use the media is the highest of all callings....it empowers common people, like us, and reduces the influence of the media conglomerates.
Any organization which reduces the influence(read

ower) of groups like ClearChannel, Cox, and CBS, is good in my book.
