I have seen posts here talking about WREK`s HUGE record collection! How big is it? Does it include pop/rock/Oldies?

That's a rather personal question don't you think?

With apologies to Aerosmith, I thought he just wanted to see WREK's big 10 inch.....record of the band that plays the blues...

Devotion to Accuracy Department: "Big 10 Inch Record" was originally recorded by Bull "Moose" Jackson and will not be played on Radio Disney, no matter how many times Jabba17's daughter requests it.

hA, hA, kIDDIES! Yes, that was funny, but back to my question. Over the years, many articles have been written talking about the expansive record collection at WREK. Is there anyone here that can go in detail about the music in it, and the # of records? Thanks!

Ask ssnake...

Yeah, WREK has a huge record collection. I don't remember the linear feet figures, but I remember spending near $20k on shelving. We had to have the floor reinforced when we built out the new location to hold all the weight. It's very diverse -- mostly AOR & mellow music from the 70s, punk/alternative from the 1980s. Some would be considered oldies. We have some 78s and 45s in the Coliseum basement. The 45s would be mostly pop oldies, but they are largely scratched. Mr. Ferst donated his record collection to WREK a few years ago, which is mostly standards.

That sounds great! SSnake, are you over WREK? Could you get some shows on there which are dedicated to playing these records? Maybe a standards show and a pop Oldies show also!
