WRESTLER MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE DEAD

I had the opportunity to hang out backstage at a WWF event with him and "Miss Elizabeth" Hulette years ago. Two of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. :-[

It looks like it happened west on Park Boulevard, west of 113th Street, in or near Seminole, FL. He was taken to Largo Medical Center and later died from his injuries. His wife Lynne, 56, was in the car with him. Both were wearing their seat belts and alcohol was NOT a factor. An autopsy has to be performed, but it's likely that he had a heart attack behind the wheel.

As for meeting Randy Savage, I have as well. I shook his hand in New Haven, CT back in 1991, when he appeared at a charity softball game to benefit the Connecticut Special Olympics (Vince McMahon was there that day as well). I also got his autograph in Hartford back in 1992.

R.I.P. Randy 1952-2011 :(

This is indeed a tragic death of a good man who devoted more time to charity that one would think...even more tragic was WTVT Televisions report on his death.

While they did provide video of Savage performing at several charitable functions,
all of the WWE(F) video of savage looked as if it was pirated from the internet...you know the visual you get when you try and watch online video through dialup...grainy and blurry. What, you work in a town where many current and former performers live, and you cant access actual WWE(F) footage?

Regardless of the event or person, please John Wilson, get the terminology right. When you jump off the top rope and bury your elbow into your opponent, its a flying elbow drop, not a bodyslam.

For whatever reason, WTVT figured it was a good idea to lump those former area resident wrestlers who had died from suspicious lifestyle choices into this obituary....and one who didnt...Chris..as John Wilson pronounced it...Ben-OYT...John..its Ben-WAH. And he lived in Georgia...and his tragic story was only front page news for over three weeks.

Pitiful.

I'm guessing Mr. McMahon didn't shake your hand... ::)

I didn't go up to him like I did with Randy. Savage was my favorite wrestler at that time, along with Ric Flair. As for Randy, tmz.com hints that the toxicology portion of the autopsy is pending. It doesn't sound like any blunt force trauma killed him. Maybe Leaping Lanny Poffo (his brother) is right about what led to the accident? Damn! :(
