WRFG operating from new site!

Finally.....
WRFG is "officially" operating from their new site. They have actually been operating since last week but at reduced power and audio "loudness." Shortly after 12 Noon, the "flipped the switch" and started operating with full power and the audio processor cranked up.
New power: 65,000 watts at 500 feet from the same tower that WKHX, 99X, and DAVE operate from.(Those stations antenna is at 1000 feet.) WRFG's signal is also directional. Towards the Gwinnette county area the power is only around 4,000 watts - same for the northwest area.
This is still a huge improvement over the old 100,000 watt signal because of the increase in antenna height. For the first time ever, WRFG will have a listenable signal over most of the Atlanta metro area.
Congratulations to the WRFG Board, staff, and volunteers!! And most importantly....congratulations to the WRFG listeners/supporters in Atlanta....

Skip did a great job with the entire installation it is on par with all of the other stations at the Richland Site.

WRFG certainly has something to be proud of.

forgive my ignorance- what's the format for WRFG? FM/AM frequency??

Maybe that's why they've not answered my emails or returned my calls.

I've submitted a program outline to them..no response.

It is where I started in radio. Don't expect a response. Its all volunteer and you would have to spend some time there to get a program. Its very disorganized. Many of the shows have to pass a politically left of center litmus test.

I have a great time there in my teen age years and my twenties. Old hippies know a good time.
