Writers Strike 2023?

WGA coming to an agreement means nothing mostly, that is, if the actors don't come up with anything anytime soon.

It allows scripts to be writer (and stockpiled if necessary) for when SAG strike ends. If both strikes ended at the sane time there probably wouldn’t be tv scripts ready to start filming

It will also probably allow daytime and late evening talk shows to return ASAP.

Not quite. A few things in TV that the WGA strike ending would immediately address, even without the actors:
  • Late Night TV would return immediately
  • Talk shows like "Jennifer Hudson Show" can resume production
  • Shows like Jeopardy which have WGA writers but not actors would get back to "normal" quickly.
  • There would be no question about whether participating in a show like "Dancing with the Stars" would be considered crossing a picket line

SAG strike prevents members from promoting their completed work. So they would be able to guest.

It’s not, but you have some hosts who can do quite well with just goofing with celebs for a little while. The moment they can get Tonight et al back on the air, they will.

TikTok/YouTube stars and musicians for the foreseeable future. Politicians, which wouldn't be a problem for Colbert and Bill Maher, especially.
AKA, late-night TV becoming even more irrelevant to what little live TV audience is left (non-sports).
SAG may be critical of actors/actresses appearing on daytime talk and late-night anyway, until a deal is made.

Yeah, the people governing the country for better or worse are irrelevant.

And TikTok/YouTube is widely used and the stars recognized by viewers are aren’t ancient.

As one who has always chosen the unscripted drama of sports over most scripted programs or films, and finds interviews with actors the entertainment equivalent of root canal, I've been affected only positively by these strikes and am now feeling a little sad that they seem headed for resolution soon. All good things must end, alas.

For tall shows based in NYC they can have Broadway actors (some of whom are also known from tv/film,). West coast shows can have daytime drama actors. And both can have actors promoting books and memoirs.
