Writers vs Talk Radio Hosts

Talk radio hosts, conservatives (the only people given shows these days) are at war with journalists, or often referred to as bleeding heart liberals. My question is simple, who is the smartest of the two?

First off, if liberal talk radio was so popular, Air America would have a much stronger presence in America. Locally, Mike Malloy would still be on a major talk radio station.

As for print vs. radio folk, there are many conservative print folk. However, the extremely liberal print folk that consistently do not get the complete story correct give the print folks in general a bad name. Forget talk show hosts, I believe the average responsible, hard working American has more sense than many of the more liberal journalist at the AJC.

For the record, I do not care for WSB radio news because of their affiliation with CNN and their liberal slant as well as the liberal Cox slant. Additionally, as a long time Atlanta boy I have tolerated the AJC in more recent times. I only kept the AJC subscription for the children to encourage their reading. Five years ago I withheld the paper from them and started taking them to the library more frequently. Three years ago I dropped the AJC subscription. I would have dropped the AJC a year earlier, but the renewal was only $50.00 for a year. When they went up on their rates I declined to renew. I am not inclined to tolerate poor, incomplete journalistic coverage of Atlanta events for more than $50.00 a year.

With regularity, I find the AJC is a day late and a dollar short with the complete story in a day two follow-up. You think amateur journalism is worth the wait vs. doing the job right the first time?

I think good journalism is an art that is fading fast. As far as CNN having a liberal slant, FOX News
is just an extension of the White House and the Republican Party.
Air America falls into same category of extremism as well but from the left. The media is considered to be the forth estate and it should work to make sure that the government is held accountable to the people it serves regardless of what party is in power. If the government is doing something illegal then we the people have a right to know about it. However, now a days the media exist to serve their advertisers and not necessarily
the readers, listeners, or viewers.

Liberal Cox slant?? Boortz, Hannity & Savage? Yeah. You make a lot of sense.

In radio, the market says conservative hosts attract an audience and sell advertising while liberal hosts do not. Who cares about print? This is a radio board.

Who’s smarter? It depends on your political persuasion.

Fixed it for ya.

I think you need to listen to a little more Boortz and Savage!

How are Boortz and Hannity and Savage a "liberal slant?"

It's all about attracting an audience and selling commercials. Print journalists don't have the same pressure as the radio guys do. They also have the chance to re-write and spell check their work before the public sees it. Radio talk-show hosts are on the fly .. and most do a pretty good job of it. Critics should try it some time!

The state of journalism is pretty sad these days - and the next generation is going to be even worse. The kids in journalism school these days want to be the 6 O'Clock anchor or sports guy. They have no clue about digging for story or building their skill.

Some want to change the world! That's journalism, right?
