Does anyone know why 1600AM WRJE and their 98.7 LPFM is not on the air. I have been checking every day for the past few months and both are off the air. I looked at the FCC website and neither is listed as silent. Also the other LPFM 105.1 is on the air playing Gospel music. I thought this was illegal. Maybe I should contact the FCC.

If I remember correctly, the owner is the same person who for a time owned the former 1260 WNRK in Newark. He bought WNRK from the long time owner of many years and changed its calls to 1260 WAMS trying to revive the old WAMS from it glory days on 1380. Ended up having only one paid spot, a two minute message from a mega church near Glasgow, DE. Eventually he sold 1260 to a Regional Mexican format owner, which ended up turning in the 1260 license so his other station could have more power at night, seems there was some sort of a conflict. I just don't remember the details, others here will remember and maybe offer more insight .

Once the owner of 1260 WAMS sold his Newark station, he bought 1600 in Dover, changed its calls a couple of times, did a couple formats, added those LPFM signals, and also acquired a station in Ocean City, MD that I believe he still is operating. My point is, he's kind of all over the map and hard to say what exactly he's doing, but chances are his Dover station's didn't pull in the revenue he hoped for and he may actually have them up for sale, who knows?

Again, others here probably remember more clearly the history and what this guy has done as an owner.
