WRJH Format Change

Before the sale and the idenitity of the new owners were known , there was alot of speculation about what would become of HOT 97.7 FM . Now that we know it was purchased by Roberts Broadcasting , a minority-owned company , what is the general consenus now as to what will happen ??? I doubt that it will become a Classic Country station or that it will be moved back to Brandon / Rankin County anytime soon .....What are your thoughts or educated guesses on this ? Would be interested in reading how you all feel .

If Inner City would've bought it, I believe it was definitely a goner. Now that Roberts has it, Hot may still stay or change it to another Black-targeted format. Very few Black-owned radio stations target non-Black audiences. Radio One does own a CHR and a rock station in Louisville, KY. I think it's a rock station they own, but they definitely do own the CHR station WDJX, but those stations' formats were already in place when they bought them. But who knows...Roberts may decide to program a death metal format.

Here's something to consider... they could retain ownership of 97.7 and LMA it out to someone else. Flinn Broadcasting is doing the same thing with WJXN-FM, along with several other stations that they own in other markets.RFB

I didn't think about the LMA thing. And if they really don't put money into their stations as was suggested in another thread, then it would serve them better to lease it to someone who will try to do something with it.
