WRKO At Night

I think it's a shame they've moved Savage, and put some fluff in its place.
Is RKO reaching out to the yuppie crowd, the metrosexual demo?
I tried, really I did, but I couldn't sit through two segments of that drivel.
I hope it does well, perhaps I'm too old for that kinda show.
But I'm only 40. I can't believe many 40-somethings are gonna be drawn to that.

I don't think ANYONE is drawn to it.

To answer your question, I don't think there's anyone here who could give you a reason why WRKO does what they do. I guess we sit back and wait for the next bonehead move.

Wonder how these shows (Taste, and the relocated Savage) will do in the ratings.
Most of us only have access to the 12+ overall ratings on radioandrecords.com,
but for those who see the 25-54s and show-by-show, it would be interesting to see.

I would think there could be at least a half-decent cult audience for the Taste
show though my brief sample of it leads me to believe I'm not part of it.
Same with Savage (prefer Laura and Sean).

Of course there isn't as big an audience during these hours as AM drive,
middays, and PM drive, and WRKO could do so well with the rest of its lineup
that the ratings could still be good. Kind of like if you go to a restaurant
during lunch or in mid-afternoon and you say to yourself, "Not many people
here--how do these guys stay in business?" Then you stop by during dinner
and the place is mobbed. Ah, so that's it.

Or you have a record label with a bunch of acts that don't sell--and one or
two that sell extremely well. The low-sellers aren't what keeps the company in
the black, it's the big, big sellers. Kind of subsidizes the rest of the
acts on the label...

It's like doing an Opera during a period break at a Hockey Game. No talk radio fan would be interested in the substance of taste of boston tonight.

You are correctamoondo! I think the program is trying to draw a younger crowd to RKO, it seems the taste of Boston is geared to the college crowd, I don't understand why but good luck to them. I tune in around 9:55 to catch Savage, of course tonite the Celtics are on starting at 9:30 so no Savage tonite.> I think it's a shame they've moved Savage, and put some> fluff in its place. > Is RKO reaching out to the yuppie crowd, the metrosexual> demo?> I tried, really I did, but I couldn't sit through two> segments of that drivel.> I hope it does well, perhaps I'm too old for that kinda> show.> But I'm only 40. Certainly an odd trainwreck between Howie & Savage.

An odd trainwreck that brings in a bunch of coin. Don't kid yourselves. I heard it was a brokered show. Even if it's not, I'm sure it's hauling in massive cash in spot sales from these places that are being featured. It's lifestyle radio for the yuppie crowd.

I question why anyone who does like to spend their nights out on the town would want to spend their nights at home listening to someone tell them how to spend their nights out on the town. Possibly the show hopes to offer some vicarious nightlife - I tuned in one night and heard someone mixing a Margarita on the air. For non-drinkers, the whole concept is a non-starter.
