WRKO/Finneran ad in WSJ ...

I'm finally getting through my WSJ's from last week and at the very end of Wednesday's edition, there is a 1/4 page ad for Finneran's Forum on WRKO with Tom in a sportcoat and button down shirt smiling that goofy smile of his. On part of the ad, probably a co-op deal, it mentions that WSJ Radio is now heard on WRKO. Even with the co-op, I bet the 1/4 page ad was pretty pricey. Or maybe it was only in New England editions.

I think that was one of the pages which are for regional ads.

It appears that WRKO is making a run at WBZ, which has traditionally been the radio station for business owners and executives.*

Besides the WSJ report, Finneran seems to have increased the business content of his show, and of all the talk hosts in Boston, he's the only one who can speak authoritatively about business/government relations, and, like him or hate, his is a name which is known by serious business folks.

Next, Howie Carr will be asking where his ad is the in National Inquirer. :)

" when I was at WBZ in the early 80s, we used to sell (at a guaranteed position premium, if we could get it) what were termed 'shaving spots' as in "the president/owner/ad manager of the business listens to Maynard when he's getting ready for work, so I need a spot to run at 6:20am during Maynard."

Regards,
TSB
