WRKO GIVES JAY SEVERIN A GIFT

With the very nasal and adenoidal sounding Todd Feinberg filling in for Howie Carr all week WRKO has given Jay Severin a gift. Can't imagine that Howie's regulars once they got their knuckles off the ground didn't push a button to hear Jay Severin. Then again, does Jay really want knuckle draggers for his audience?

Do you have to take a voice quality test and FAIL to be hired by WRKO. DePetro, Feinberg et al ... et nauseum ?

Parklane - I was waiting for someone to say what I've been thinking.
Five minutes of Todd Feinberg was too much for me. He is just AWFUL.

Thank God HUTCH is on ZLX. A witty guy who thinks!

WRKO PULLING A LOU REED
Do you know how Lou Reed got out of his RCA contract? He issued four sides of complete noise METAL MACHINE MUSIC. It was one of the biggest returns in the history of the music biz next to Bob Dylan's PLANET WAVES and the four KISS solo albums.

He followed up hit records - Rock & Roll Animal, Sally Can't Dance and Coney Island Baby with PURE NOISE. It got him out of his deal, he went over to
Arista (and now, of course, Sony/BMG owns the entire catalog from that era!!)

LOU REED knows how to clear a room - on his terms.

Alas, WRKO is doing the talk radio version of METAL MACHINE MUSIC and just getting rid of their audience.

When heroin dealers feel the heat of the cops, they sometimes issue pure stuff to kill off the customer base - (Janis Joplin's "hotshot" was one such moment, about 8 junkies died that same night in 1970 - and some think it was the
Government getting rid of counter culture stars). Is WRKO eliminating their customer base by issuing a talk radio version of a HOTSHOT. Deadly stuff.

And SO BORING!

Not all week--thought I heard him mention the other day that VB will be
in Thu and Fri

I thought the hour about whether or not bisexuals exist was kind of
interesting but generally I'm not fond of Todd F. VB comes in Thu and Fri
I believe. Maybe should have run a best of HC, or bring back Giles.

There's a bigger theory that it's all tongue-in-cheek...

Stop it.

You guys are cranks. Feinberg is better than the other fill hosts. VB is on today, and he's the biggest insult of all of them. All attitude, no brains.

"All attitude; No Brains" Isn't that WRKO's Logo. Think I saw that on a billboard !

Couldn't that apply to basically everyone in this market except WJIB?

Both are terrible.

Re: Howie Carr

Given today's (July 7th) subway bombings in London, if Howie Carr is near a phone, could he end up calling WRKO, and go on the air today, doing his part of the show from wherever he is on vacation??

Someone back in Boston could be on the other end of the line to alert Howie to the name/hometown of the callers (i.e. "Howie, Nick from Revere is on the line"), cue him at the end of breaks, etc.

Were I a talk-radio host on vacation this week, I would have tried to get to a phone to call home base and tried to do my part of regular show today from wherever I am, given the magnitude of the London bombings. This is one occassion where interrupting a vacation would be the right thing to do.

I'm not sure where HC is vacationing but if's he's nearby maybe he'll be brought in. Radio Equalizer blog pointed out many talk hosts are on vacation this week---
though Rush in on live today, and Hannity has been on all week in anticipation
of the Freedom Concert tomorrow in New Jersey. I heard Todd F. mention that VB would be in later, maybe on Thu or Fri...maybe VB will do an adequate job
or yes, Howie could be brought in.

I could see other hosts cutting their vacations short to provide
talk/coverage, liberal and conservative alike.

True

I do like VB--I don't agree with him on every issue and yes, he can have a bit of an attitude, but his topics, etc. have been good. I miss the Pit and it's good that he fills in for HC once in awhile.

Re: Howie Carr

Howie is out near Utah. Rumor is that he is taking lessons to become a Mormon [LDS] so that when Mitt becomes president he can get a job. Well, part of this is true but which one......?

>> Knuckle draggers- Always count on a Liberal to get down in the gutter. Last time I checked -you guys were calling for 'Gitmo' to be closed down. So much concern for the terrorists. 2nd ,Air America asks the question; What did 'WE' do to cause the bombings in London?! Someday we "knuckle Draggers' are going to destroy Political Correctness. Before it finishes destroying the U.S.A.
