Break out the Champagne ! The broadcast extension of the Republicrat Party otherwise known as Entercom's WRKO went down to ignominious defeat tonight across the board.

Every candidate the talking mouth mice supported went down to DE FEAT.

That KKK morning man must have soiled his sheet tonight.

Rush must have overdosed on oxycontin.

Howie Carr has started packing. Don't let the door hit you on the way out and take you phony book aka a bunch of old Herald newspaper articles with you.

WRKO invested whatever credibility it had on one lame horse after another and all they have to show for it are those horses digested product. Start digging Julie you may find a very short PD buried in that pile... ;)
 
When 'RKO gets down to Air America numbers (which won't happen), let us know. More people might tune
in/call in now to complain about higher taxes coming, unless the changes result in more listeners moving out
of town

Please provide evidence that he is in that organization (one which, by the way, was started by a Democrat and featured many Democratic members over the years in the "Solid South". Robert Byrd was a member
at one time, as was/is David Duke.)
 
I really think you too are missing the big picture here. Nothing could be better for WRKO. Do you already forget the Clinton era? Now everything will be the fault of the Democrats. This is perfect for RKO and Rush. The other thing you all keep missing is Talk Radio is much like Pro Wrestling. It's entertainment not real. You have no idea what these hosts real stances are on any of these issues. Nor the Program director. They are trying to cause controversy and keep people listening and calling. The last thing that would be good for RKO would be a public shift to the Right. That is what might cause them to shift to the left. This is the best thing for them and Rush. And you can't wait to listen today. Joe, Paul you don't believe in Pro-wrestling do you?
 
I agree--and Maloney's column (linked in a sep. post) said that it's to conservatalk's advantage, if they
know how to handle it. Prog-talk will now be an amen-corner for the Left in charge but they too need
to get the right talent in place...or will their few listeners defect to NPR?

No, the only thing that went down to defeat and that has no credibility around here is you, especially when you start gloating when there's nothing to gloat about. You still can't fathom facts, so once again, I'll spell it out for you: WRKO barely gets a 3 share in its target demographic...in only one corner of the state. IOW, 97% of the people listening to radio...in only one corner of the state...are listening to something else. WRKO has ZERO influence on elections...period. No victories, no defeats...just NOTHING. What do we have to do to get these simple facts through your skull?

But, of course, facts never got in the way of your agenda before. ::)

WRKO has zero influence on the election. They thought they'd have a bigger influence. They pushed listeners away. That's never a good thing.

Raccoon keeps acting as if Boston's Progressive Talk is on the same playing field. It's not. Clear Channel
is not going to give a voice to the Democrats, the voice that WBUR has.

Every time Raccoon and Dumber Than A Box Of Hair change the subject, I say - NPR, WBUR.

All radio stations WANT ratings. WBUR is the proof. WRKO is not grabbing the brass ring. It's there.

Casablanca is echoing what I wrote first: RKO went down to defeat yesterday. They are running a business
and Dumber/Raccoon just don't seem to get it. What they are dishing out is not good for business and their Arbitrons are reflecting that. Dumber, are you saying WRKO is HAPPY that they are losing audience book after book?

KKK? Hardly. SAM is in favor of changing the definition of marriage to include two people of the same gender. That is not exactly a Klan talking point.

Absolutely right. Talk radio is supposed to be entertainment. Hosts preach as though their comments are gospel. If/when they're proven wrong, they can legitimately say they're not supposed to be objective like news reporters, they get paid for their voiced opinions. Whether or not they actually believe them is immaterial.
But don't rag on pro wrestling. That's truly the sport of kings, isn't it? :D

its only amazing if you have little understanding of talk radio. Management doesn't care about ideology - its concerned with success.

You still don't get it, do you? How precisely do you know what they thought? How do you know they "pushed listeners away?" You don't even work in radio and the Fall ratings aren't due for another two months or so.

WRKO isn't in it to influence an election because there's no way they could. The top-rated talk stations in the US get maybe a 10 share. That still means that 90% DON'T LISTEN. There is no chance of ANY talk station ANYWHERE in the US influencing an election.

In the past WRKO's ratings have gone UP during election periods...not down...thus disproving your point. The ratings go up ONLY because people are talking about the issues, not because the station is going to influence an election. It isn't, it can't and it won't.

Further, I don't see you making the argument that the invisible, off-the-radar Air America influenced the election, because, again, there's no way they could, even though the outcome was favorable to their POV.
