for the "Prince of Providence" and Cranston Johnny D (who lost his 'RKO gig over controversial incidents),
who used to criticize The Mayor during his WHJJ days.

"Former Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, who was freed from federal custody last month after serving more than four years in prison for corruption, will return to the radio next month as a talk-show host. Cianci called in Thursday morning to WPRO-AM, where he hosted a show for several months in 2002 before starting his prison term, to announce that he would join the station's lineup on Sept. 20."

I'm not sure the 'convicted felon' epithet is getting any mileage anywhere except with you and Maloney. Scott A. Miller probably never had a parking ticket and his 25-54s were in free fall by the time he was let go. Judging by how much in demand his talents have been lately, he may well be thinking that knocking over a 7-11 might not be a bad career move.

Well thanks to the Felon, we're all paying $150/yr more because he rolled back the voter-passed
tax rollback. Thanks Tom! Finneran got a slap on the wrist; Buddy served 4 yrs after
he got convicted on 1 of 27 counts...

And it may be time to consider what we, and future generations, would be paying, or would have lost, if the Mass bond rating had fallen into the 'junk' class. But, it is a lot easier just to omit the context and to bitch about the buck and a half a year, plus you get to keep your premium membership in SaveWRKO.

I've known a lot of financial and economic professionals, and you'd be surprized how many didn't think that keeping Howie Carr and Brian Maloney happy by committing fiscal suicide was a good idea.

Reminds me of when Finneran and Feinburg were broadcasting from the Statehouse recently. Feinburg did a typical knee-jerk anti-tax riff to which Finneran replied, "and that's why you'll never have a responsible job where you actually have to balance the budget" to something to that effect, to which Feinburg replied that his anti-tax ranting was a public service...

Much easier for the public to say, 'sure, I want my taxes cut' than it is to actually get out your pencil and do it. Globe had a great section in the paper a few years ago on the federal budget... All the major categories were listed, allocation by % and dollars, what each category actually funded, what the implications were for reducing expenditures in the areas.... People were suppposed to send in their budgets.

People really don't know how much of the budget is fixed - debt service, pension obligations, maintenance.

I wish they would do the same for the state budget. I'd love to see the choices people make when confronted with the reality of the situation.
