WRKO now on WEEI-FM HD 2 (93.7)

Weei - hd2

Does anyone know what happened to WEEI-HD2 Funkytown? It was replaced by WEEI talk radio yesterday (2/26/14) right in the middle of a song; no explanation, nothing, and I can't find anything on the Internet about it. Obviously, I enjoyed listening to it and wondered if I might find it somewhere else or find something similar. Thanks!

WRKO is now simulcasting on the HD2 of WEEI-FM 93.7 (lic. to Boston, stick in Peabody). Funkytown apparently gone. I can't pick up an HD3 on 93.7 here in Beverly. Yes, all talk is back on FM, if you have an HD radio like my portable. I actually might be able to use my HD portable at work and pick up WRKO that way (93.7 HD2) --in a bldg full of machinery-rather
than TuneIn on smartphone

what a waste of an FM Band.
Should take the license away from Entercon !

Just your opinion...hey let's get rid of NPR because I don't like it. Yeah. They are doing what they can to make money, even if it's putting their signal on HD radio so the dozens of us who own an HD radio (yeah, sarcasm) might find a use for it.
And Jeff Kuhner is goingk to sound so much better, my frenz, my frenz, by puttingk him on an FM HD2

I'd heard about this on twitter from @bostonradio-- actually it was WRKO 680 talkradio that replaced it and if it was sudden, well, someone decided to start simulcasting RKO and let's just do it now, no warning... WRKO has signal issues due to
pattern changes at sunset, workplace machinery and interference, etc and Entercom apparently decided this may help some listeners.
Funkytown started up when "Star 93.7" switched to adult hits WMKK "Mike, we play everything". For the former Star listeners, it was a way to get something similar. After awhile the web link to Funkytown went down and nobody bothered to fix it.

(Star 93.7 started on Apr 1, 1999; it ended on April 14, 2005. Wiki.:"WQSX became WMKK, with an adult hits format branded as "93.7 Mike FM". Inside Radio, a radio industry publication, released information that had this change not taken place, Infinity Broadcasting [now CBS radio] reportedly would have transformed either WBMX, WZLX, or WODS into Jack FM on April 15.") From Wiki entry on WEEI-FM.

Entercom is doing what other companies like Clear Channel are--for example the HD2 of WJMN 94.5 is (brokered) business radio, a simulcast of WXKS 1200 "Bloomberg". To help those who might have trouble with 1200 signal. I thought maybe Funkytown would get shifted to an HD3 but apparently not.

Not sure where you can find something similar--anyone else know?

First of all, wrko is not for lowlifes. What they should've done is put wrko on 97.7. But as someone, said they will make money how they want.

In his column today Scott Fybush mentioned 93.7 covers North Shore etc well, areas that already can get WRKO well even at night (it does reach into Boston but not south or west of town as well as they'd like, maybe) and he wonders if they might put 'RKO on the HD2 of WAAF to help those to the west. But while more and more cars are supposedly getting radios with HD,
and some are actively marketing HD radio, it still is virtually unknown and unwanted by many.

I would think a lot more people would use smartphones for WRKO reception in distant areas, in buildings with lots of interference, etc. (TuneIn, Live365, WRKO app)

Speaking of which...where is Fybush? Haven't seen him here at all since the site relaunched. It's not the same without him.
