WRKO on 97.7

Also WCRN Worc and stations in NH, RI, etc, rimshotters... but a minor factor in ratings and billing for them overall. WRKO must make some money but not enough to justify putting it on FM; maybe they could try for younger audience with that but are young people interested enough in talk radio? That being said some talk shows do air on WGBH and WBUR so there's some talk on FM

One justification for an FM move or simulcast is "80 per cent listen to FM..." The AM fans tend to be
older--as are talk audiences.
Advertisers like stations where people listen for long periods and get multiple exposure to their ads.
In the past that meant talk stations. Now, sports--and sports isn't as polarizing as poli. talk
and appeals to more demos. Younger listeners, more demos, the type of audiences many advertisers
wants. What sells, stations talking about March Madness or political issues? Ent, CBS and other
companies in town are banking on sports talk and play by play.

@bostonradio and I were talking on twitter and he agreed with me about the need for the 2 freqs
carrying WAAF--does well in 18-49 male. He did say 97.7 _could_ help them a bit if they // WEEI-FM:

>>The one and only exception if they ever want to improve WEEI's penetration around south of 128 loop(Norwood/Walpole,etc)...But I suppose 103.7 helps out in those pockets. But yeah, 107.3/97.7 is very consistent performer in 18-49 male bracket
---
So while 97.7 could help Ent. by filling in needed spots for WEEI-FM signal, it's apparently needed more to get that AAF signal into town. 103.7 does help them a lot in many areas south of town
though.

WAAF isn't exactly lighting the world on fire... ratings are on a steady decline... Is WAAF secure? I don't think so.

I have no idea what numbers you're looking at, but Arbitron says you're wrong. Their ratings are up every month for the last three months, now in a tie for fourth in their target demo. They're also sold out...every stop set is full. They're in no danger whatsoever.

The 6+ ratings we see can only tell you so much. Broken down demos like that are what matter.
