Howie Carr was fond of saying "Entercom happens" whenever a technical glitch occurred during his broadcasts originating from the WRKO studios. I doubt we will ever hear those same words from him again.
However, I hope I'm not alone in noticing how sloppy on-air production has been mornings on WRKO. Specifically, shortly before the (pre-recorded) hourly newscast from Jackie Murphy of TTN, 'RKO begins to run its obligatory TOH station ID, only for it to be abruptly terminated by an ad for iHeart Radio. The latter runs long enough such that, not only is the station ID not completed, but almost all of the newscast is not aired, and we're lucky to catch the tail-end of the traffic or weather report.
Were this a one-time occurrence, I'd've said nothing, but it's been going on for about a week now. Of course, I'm going to indict their "new" automation system. And someone is going to come along and tell me to be patient, as it takes a while to integrate 'RKO's format with the new system. Look - all I know is, 'RKO had things running just about right till the recent transition to new ownership. And now it's worse than it ever was when Entercom was running the station.
OK, I've said my piece. Now if anyone at 'RKO and iHeart reads this, my humble request is: listen to what's going out over the air and fix it! Think about it: if Bill Drake were still programming WRKO today, do you think for one moment these snafus would be allowed to continue?
