WRKO PD to DC

This is an interesting story on several levels. From the Boston side, WRKO's PD is taking over a new conservative talk translator in Washington DC. This one is carrying programing from an HD2 station. Some of the programming is a local repackage of talk highlights from other iHeart stations. Sort of a radio version of Talk Soup. It also has some iHeart syndicated shows not currently available in DC. Might this be an audition for a station they might launch elsewhere, including in Boston?

If I was PD of a top rated talk station in Boston, would I leave to run a translator? Not unless there's more to it than that. Then again, on the plus side, they get a lot less snow in DC.

Maybe they feel they don't need a PD at WRKO (do they?)....and they are combining duties.

Isn't Robert Sanchez running everything in Boston anyway?

Possibly they want someone to get the translator/HD station up and running as a viable/respectable product in the market, and they need someone to put their efforts behind that. But, like you said, maybe there's more? Maybe it's just a holding spot for him.

Radio-locator map of approx translator reach shows all of DC, and quite a bit of VA, MD; signal alone plus online will reach a lot of Beltway insiders and other workers.

Could this be Krazy K0000nah's big chance to "go national" ? (smirk)
