WRKO's Second Stringers

With the exception of Doug Goudie the WRKO Christmas fill-in's are real second stringers. The Maroney guy filling in for Scott Allen Miller is one of the 'true believers' if not kool-aiders. Dead give away when he speaks about the "DemoCrat" Party with emphasis on "Crat".

The fill-in's for DePetro are no better. They maybe on Sunday night but that is where they belong. They have to have the worst radio voices I have ever heard. They should at least try to drop their uneducated sounding Boston accent.
Can't get by that. They make reruns of Imus sound good.

Is this the best Entercom has in its farm team?

I disagree - they're better than Depettro any day! Talk about accents - no one (aside from a toll taker or a Massport hack) has a stronger accent than Depetro.

And, Imus never sounds good - hasn't in at least 10 years.

...paid for the hit on 'RKO!? It got two in the turbin the day the Mournin' "show" debuted. ALL downhill from there! This assasination is more baffilin' than the kennedy hit! SeeYa! ;)

No one is debating that. He still has an ugly and pronounced accent that precludes him from working anyplace outside of New England. Frankly, it's out of place anywhere north of Attleboro.

Worse still is his lack of ability when it comes to topic selection. More than once, Scott Allen Miller has him on at 8:55 and is talking about some interesting topic only to have Depetro say "yes, but we're not going to be talking about that..."

Instead, it's usually something that's either out of touch with the events of the day or - even worse - a hyper-local story about something that happened somewhere between the South Shore and Newport. Never to the north and almost never something of great local interest to listeners north of downtown Boston. Perhaps Brockton, or Providence, or Seekonk. He'd be better off on the air in Providence. After all, clearly that's where his heart is.

No, this week has been a nice break between 9 and 12. Normally, I do not listen to WRKO during those hours.

No, I like listening to him usually; and thankfully with Sandy on
vacation he doesn't have to do that tired bit about "Sandy can only
speak when we play the 'Planet of the Apes' horn" (other than that...)

Exactly. It would have to be earlier since they must have to wake up early, so maybe 7-10 is possible?

If you're waking up for a 6AM airtime (?) you're not still wide awake at 10PM unless you sleep during the day. I hope Doug's making enough that he doesn't seriously need to consider it.
