WRKZ the next FREE-FM?!?!?!

I don’t know if any of you have heard him, but I caught Kidd Chris today on K-Rock. Even though I find him somewhat funny (his show sounds a lot like Howard’s as most of these young bucks who are following in his footsteps sound like) I have a question for all of you.

With the adding of Kidd Chris to K-Rock along with Opie and Anthony and Love line at night on K ROCK (all talk shows), do you think WRKZ is ‘testing the waters’ for a possible Free-FM or do you think they are just trying to get away from the all music idea and tailor to the younger males of Pittsburgh?

Just your random thoughts since I am incapable of creating any logical ones.

Best regards,

- Chancellor

I was wondering the same thing since there are so many talk shows now on K Rock. It is interesting that they do have the Kidd Chris talk show in afternoon drive time. I wouldn't be surprised if K Rock does flip to Free FM in the near future.

A switch to FreeFm would be great, maybe put Leykis on at 7pm ;)

If the X or someone could pick up the slight slack of the few good songs KROC still plays since going Classic Rock.

I'd listen to talk exclusively if enough good shows were offered. At least I don't have to listen to that absolutely horrible Don & Mike's Thinskinned-Fat-Guys-Show ever again ;D

Mostly The Edge1550, 1250 and 104.7 for this okd guy...

Based on what Yes.com indicates K-Rock plays, there's no way K-Rock could be accurately described as "classic rock". That is, unless the powers that be changed the definition of "classic" rock to something different from what it used to be.

Anyone listening? I like it overall. A little too hip-hop for me, and the entire staff trying to out-laugh each other will be hard to overcome. Better than anything else available in the afternoon, though...

I agree with you PFA. For me it is also a little to hip-hop but as for as afternoon goes, its something different than the old blah blah blah. I am one of those people who tries to avoid the whole shock jock thing, but I end up caving in because there is nothing else entertaining and I do find Kidd Chris funny even though his show is kinda fast paced with many different sound effects and people talking at the same time. I guess that goes to show you I'm getting old...: -[

I hope that does not happen cause i want to here my hard rock station not DVE and not 1059.

The ratings for K ROCK are slowly improving. Whether this is a good sign for K ROCK staying or not is hard to tell at this time.

I agree with you todd?:) I hope they stay Cause i don't want to listen to talk Now if K-rock does go off air i have my siruis radio cause i won't listen to dve and or 1059thex.

Don't know how they catagorize the music K ROK's feeding us, but I heard Phil Collins, "Fat Bottom Girls", "Stairway to..." and other dreck lately.

So little music to be excited about lately, talk-radio's now my staple.

Has the O&A show gathered a following in Pgh? I see overall low numbers, but someone always points out that the numbers are actually good... ???
