It was night while it lasted.
Also, WRLL's hopes were erased when 94.7 came on.

So why is Clear Channel going to kill it?
And with the future of 94.70 being uncertian.
Clear Channel should not kill the great oldies format.
Traditional said:I agree with you that Clear Channel should not have killed the oldies on WRLL. What I disagree with you on is the future of 94.7 being uncertain. The latest chicago ratings show that WZZN went from a rating of 2.1 to 2.4. Now this isnt an extreemly good rating, but they are improving. As far as I am concerned they are making the old WJMK look pretty lame in the ratings with that Jack garbage that is now being played. I don't expect to see WZZN flipped anytime soon.

So are we saying that the rating books do not matter anymore?
If so why are they doing them then?

When your ratings are way south of a share point, ratings do not matter. Just because a station shows up in the ratings does not mean it is going to be used by advertisers. WRLL is not even top 30, and even worse in 25-54. It is just ground clutter on the radar. Advertisers buy the biggest stations in any particular demo they are after... like Men 35-44 or women 18-49, etc. They generally buy only a few stations, such as 5 deep or 6 deep. They do not buy 30 deep.
Even at the race track, unless you are #1, #2 or #3, you are not in the money. Same in radio in each sales demo.... 55+ is glue factory material.

Being in the ratings matters when you want it to, it doesn't when you don't. You must do Spanish, billing isn't about rating, it's about ratings, ratings matter, they don't matter, you're the best hindsight guru I've ever seen. You know everything after it happens and predict nothing that no one knows. You create parallell realities to serve your wants as to how you "want" things to be. You alter reality, skewer reports, results and other things to justify your position.

Anything you ever write is challengeable, slanted, biased and self-serving. Which David are you today? The janitor? The big radio station owner? The consultant? Please tell us surfs, please enlighten us oh David in the lamp on how a radio station with ratings on a crazy ass signal can't make money? In fact, I'll go one further, it's a stupid idea to have such a limited signal in such a large portfolio so why would they do it in the first place? But it's there and it has listeners IN SPITE OF YOU AND ITSELF so it CAN BE SOLD, DIFFERENTLY. Enlighten us David on all your other stupid statments about how formats that billed, bill and work as well as worked in Chicago don't? How do we make a six a nine David? Explain to us how a station that billed 22 milllion dollars 6 years ago and is now billing about 13 is GOOD? Only you could know what we all don't because you're our guru boy. Kneel before Zod.
