WRMF Sounds Awful

Given the state of the industry, I realize that it is par for the course to say that a station sounds awful. But since South Florida still has some good AC stations - especially Lite - WRMF sounds particularly bad.

When they have jocks, it seems that the jocks are limited to fewer than 10 seconds. In addition, the playlist has been constricted beyond anything reasonable. For example, how many times a day can they play "21 Guns" by Green Day? I miss the WRMF of a few years back, when they billed themselves as "South Florida's Variety Station," and had a great music library.

Agreed. Their playlist is horrid and that new morning show is unlistenable. I have always thought that WLDI in morning drive without music was bad but WRMF is worse. It has that amatuerish sound that you have no interest in listening to. What happened to the variety stick on WRMF? I also miss that CBS station Mix 102, at least they had a good playlist.

Unfortunately, research, especially in PPM markets, seems to indicate that tight playlists produce more listeners. Moreover, WRMF has definitely bought into the PPM-inspired idea that jocks should be limited to introducing the names of songs - that is it.

I agree about the morning show. WRMF has become a waste of a great signal.

Mix 102 was a great station. It fit nicely into the market - not as soft as some of the AC stations, but not CHR like Wild. And speaking of great signals, Mix does much better into southern Palm Beach County than many other north-of-West-Palm-Beach signals.

WRMF has been going down hill. It is not a polished station like in previous years. Robert Murphy was the last great morning man followed by Mickey & Morley. When will management wake up?
