WRMM's Dee Alexander Gets The Boot

Personally I'm all for some new blood in the market no matter what the cost. I've been bored with T&D for a while. These Stephens guys must have done something right to be able to spend $13mil and I've never known a station to "luck" their competition into leaving the market.

I've never been a fan of T&D and Warm 101.3 is not my cup of tea, but I'm saddened and astonished they let Dee go. Sad because it's a sad state of affairs that radio has gotten to the point where morning personalities, responsible for millions in sales, are being let go because they're handsome salary is considered a liability. Astonished because you don't break up a winning team with a chemistry that obviously appeals to thousands of loyal listeners.

You've got hand it to any company that can come up with millions of dollars to buy broadcast properties. That doesn't mean they are making sound business decisions. Look at Clear Channel.

It will be very interesting to see what the new owners of WRMM and the other two FM's will do with those stations. From a business prospective I can see that if the owners are going to make changes, do it right away rather than wait. On the other hand to break up a morning team that generates most of WRMM's revenue doesn't seem to make any sense either. I'm sure Stephens Media could have saved money by eliminating the morning team on Fickle along with Bob Kirk considering that Fickle is mostly an automated station anyways.

WHAM TV is also reporting that newsman Bob Kirk was let go from 93.3. However I believe that Kirk works for Entercom so he still has a job at WBEE.

I emailed Scott Fybush this morning and he corrected me when I stated that Bob Kirk still has a job at WBEE. According to Scott, Kirk is also out of a job.

Yet another veteran talent shown the door. A sad state of affairs.

Kids(who work cheap) and computers - pretty soon that will be the entire work staff of corporate radio.

Well, that's one way to get the lower demos interested and re-connected with broadcasting. I'm only half kidding.
