WRMO 93.7 Milbridge Maine UPDATE

Looks like WRMO-93.7 may finally get a new owner. According to the FCC website an application was filed this week to transfer ownership from the Evans estate to a group called Pine Tree Broadcasting, out of Maryland. I haven't had a chance to read the entire application on-line, but it appears the new owners are trying to get it back on before October.
No indication of where they plan to transmit or broadcast from. I'm sure they will file for a new location and site if the sale is approved by the FCC. The former transmitter and antenna at the Bushey Entrprises Building on Route 1 in Steuben is long-gone.

But I wish them luck. Washington County Maine is not a very economically healthy area of Maine. It could be a tough go.

The applicant is Charles Begin. Isn't he the guy who signed on that micro-powered AM in Bar Harbor a couple of years ago?

Well the owner finally got real with the price. 100K for a commercial LPFM in Maine was a bit too much. I would take a chance on it for 35K (the sale price) and then increase the power. The people that bought it aren;t from Maine.

There was a Chuck Begin from Waterville ME who worked in Bangor, Augusta and Lewiston in the 70s. Last I heard, he was out of the biz and in the Maryland/ D.C. area.

Not licensed as a LPFM; just in the same power range.

I know that an LPFM is a non-comm. From a technical stand point it was what they were dropping a 100K on though.

From my knowledge of Mr. Bevin, it's extremely disappointing WRMO didn't sell to a more local and community friendly owner. It's going to take a lot more broadcast knowledge and community ties than running a part-15 AM off a hard drive. I was hopeful for WRMO's revival but after seeing who bought it..

The Charles Begin that I knew was very capable of doing radio correctly. A very smart guy who could take a challenged signal and make it work. Jimmy, you mis-spelled the name as Bevin. Sure youre not thinking of Jim Leven, at one point of WWFX Belfast? Not the same person.
