Saw an item in last week's "DownEast Coastal Press" reporting WRMO 93.7 Milbridge is back on the air. So, I took a trip down there Friday to check them out. The station has been off the air for a few months, and has moved to a new location on Route 1 in Stueben, just over the town line from Milbridge. Their single bay antenna is clearly visible atop an attached warehouse. The station only runs 115 or so watts, in mono, but gets out about 5 miles, adequately covering the adjacent towns of Milbridge, Harrington and Cherryfield.
The format can best be discribed as Adult Comteporary/Oldies and Standards. During the hour I listened and visited their facilities, I heard a wide variety ranging from Ferrante and Teicher at the Pianos, Bette Middler, Tony Bennett, The Four Lads, Rick Astley and Phil Collins.
The station is on 24/7. Plans are to boost the power when they are able to secure a transmitter and tower site; hopefully later this year.
I wish them luck...BTW still no sign of any activity on 101.1 from Machias. There is a CP from the recent FCC auction there last fall.
