According to its website (937WRMO.com) little WRMO, all of 130 watts from downeast Millbridge, Maine has pulled the plug and gone silent because the guy running it can no longer afford it.

I'm curious. What kind of signal coverage did this station have. Reports had the antenna height at 13 Ft. ?

If you look on Google street view of this the gray 2 story building at the intersection with the yellow sign has an antenna on top of the building. I believe that is it.

What a shame...they were a great sounding little station..Only mono, but a great variety of music...Perhaps if they had a better signal and higher antenna they could have had a little more luck. But Milbridge and all of Washington County have the worst economy in the state of Maine; so I'm surprised he got as many sponsors as he did. Still, hate to see it go silent...Hopefully someobdy else will resurrect it..or else it will just become another religious satellator.

They got out about 10-15 miles...from Winter Harbor to Addison...not bad for the power and low height. Alwasy listened to them while travelling thryu the area. They couldn;t make it to Mount Desert Island, except along the higher points, and Cadillac Mtn of course.

Actually that was near their old location, they were behind the large two-storyy gry building. They moved a couple years back about a mile out of town to the Bushey Enterprises Building on Route 1, just over the townline in Steuben. Next time I go down there I'll get a pic. I don't know why the old TigerCensus maps shows the old location.

The Google street view is approximately where their licensed coordinates puts the transmitter. They didn't take the transmitter to Stuben with them, did they?
And what happened to the assignment of license from the estate of Lyle Evans to Yamster Communications/McSorley? It appears according to FCC records that it never closed.

It is a shame indeed. But doesn't shutting it down a station automatically make the station less valuable than if it was still in operation? I'm sure the electric bill was minimal. Shutting down should be the last resort. What kind of operation is WRMO? Was it live, live assist, satellite.....? I'm hoping someone from that local area will step up to the plate and do something with it. You can do a lot with very little, trust me... I know. I hope it comes back soon. The last thing they need up there is another K-Love robotic repeater or some clone of someone else. They'd be better off in the meantime (IMHO) to grab a PC at the transmitter site, load in Zararadio (automation), put all of the music, PSA's and special programming on it and keep the station alive until they decide what they eventually do with it. The station would be more attractive to potential buyers alive than dead. Good luck, WRMO.
I drove by WRMO (or what was WRMO) yesterday afternoon. Their studio windows were dark, nobody on the entire second floor and no cars in parking lot...and the single bay transmitting antenna atop 10-foot tripod on the warehouse roof was gone! Sad.... They sounded nice while they lasted. I wish GM Mike McSorley the best.

looks like they packed up and went home...the message on the 'RMO website has changed notifying visitors that the public file is located at the Millbridge town office, so it looks like if you want to buy the station, it's pretty much just a license at this point. And they also mention a "significant power increase" with nothing on record with the FCC...I believe the original CP called for a higher antenna and higher power but was reduced greatly to get the station on the air.

Why would it need to be "redone"? The study comes with the selling price.
I assumed the study is only good for so long.

Yes, there is a regional High School...Narraguagus Regional High covers several towns. But with school funding in Maine in poor shape, I doubt it would even cross thier mind...Somewhow I think it's going to turn into a K-Love Gospel satellator. maybe rebroadcasting their Bangor stations...just a guess. I have a hunch they are already eyeing it!

Remember WTUX 101.1 was originally granted to Machias, and they are now licensed to Gouldsboro, right next to Millbridge, and they are just a repeater of WTOS Skowhegan.
Seriously, with the economy in such poor shape in Washington County, it would take a person with deep pockets to get this thing going again at a decent power and height to serve this wide area.
I just feel sorry for Mike, as I know he put a lot into it; and the station did sound good.
